Darling Environmental thrives on sustained growth path
By Lee Allen
Acknowledged as a leader in the field of 3D laser scanning, Darling Environmental and Surveying Ltd. is about to increase its lead in state-of-the-art spatial imagery systems and precision measurement control.
The growth of the firm from "Mom and Pop" origins with wildlife biologist CEO Mary Darling and land surveyor President Richard Darling has now become a multi-million-dollar, 25 employee, multi-disciplined firm that has outgrown previous office locations and has just moved into 5,100 square feet at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park.
"Darling Environmental is a Tucson success story through their use of sophisticated technology and a welcome addition to our list of tenants," says Bruce Wright, associate vice president for economic development.
The more sophisticated the project scope, the more sophisticated the equipment needed, and as the task, tools, and technology all advance — so does the reputation of the company that solves the problems. "Darling now provides clients with true color and texture 3D GPS-controlled data for historical and prehistoric buildings and artwork, geologic features, architect-tural structures, airports, stadiums, race tracks, power plants, water canals, and more — and new doors continue to open," reports The American Surveyor magazine.
