SAHBA's Councils and Committees
CARNIVAL DE GOLFE: An annual golf tournament and auction is produced by this committee which benefits local charitable organizations each year.
CUSTOM BUILDERS COUNCIL: For custom and small volume builders. Creates a support organization to accommodate the needs and further the realization of its specialized membership. Sponsors a number of educational seminars throughout the year.
GREEN BUILD COUNCIL: Provides a forum to facilitate the understanding and acceptance of sensible green building practices. The Council will promote credible and practical green building approaches for residential construction that will result in energy-efficient, healthier and environmentally sustainable buildings.
HOME SHOW: Plans and coordinates all facets of both the Spring & Fall SAHBA Home Shows.
MEMBERSHIP: Maintains a strong SAHBA membership. Reviews membership criteria, structure and services; develops membership goals, recruiting strategies, retention and recognition & incentive programs. Reviews applications for membership and recommends action to the Board of Directors. Coordinates materials and manpower for the SAHBA booth display at both Home Shows.
PAC (POLITICAL ACTION): Interfaces with federal, state and local elected officials regarding industry issues. Responsible for voter education, get-out-the-vote programs, and grassroots activities. Monitors state and federal legislation. Facilitates pro-housing candidate endorsements.
REMODELOR'S COUNCIL: Addresses issues faced by remodelers. Interacts with the National Remodeler's Council.
SAFETY: Educates and informs members on safety matters and OSHA compliance. Conducts monthly seminars on various topics relating to job site safety, and safety & legal information.
SALES & MARKETING: For members who sell or market property/homes. Offers educational programs and exchange of information about area sales, traffic, FHA/VA funding, builder/broker relations, and new products. One meeting per quarter is closed for builder/developer members only.
TECHNICAL: Reviews city, county and state ordinances, regulations and policies relative to land-use planning, zoning and development. Is actively involved in governmental communications with appointed staff and elected officials.
VAMA: NAHB has a signed contract with HUD promising to adhere to fair housing. This committee assists in assuring that all members actively pursue reaching consumers to promote affordable and fair housing.
