After 13 years as Executive Vice President of the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association, Alan Lurie announces his plans to retire this summer to spend more time with his family and to pursue outdoor interests. Ed Taczanowsky, Executive Vice President of the Building Industry Association of Central California in Modesto, has been named to succeed Lurie. Taczanowsky was the successful candidate following a three-month national search by the SAHBA Executive Committee. |
Taczanowsky is scheduled to join SAHBA in mid-July.
Lurie joined SAHBA in June 1990 following a distinguished 32-year career in the United States Air Force. From 1982 to 1984, he served as the 836th Air Division Commander at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, where he was promoted to Brigadier General. From 1984 to 1987, he was the 25th Air Division Commander at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Wash.
Col. Lurie also commanded two Tactical Air Command Fighter Wings, first in 1980-81 at Luke AFB in Arizona, and then in 1981-82 at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas.
Taczanowsky has served the Modesto-area HBA since 1991. He has 25 years of experience in association management, 20 of which are with builders associations. He has served as an Executive Committee member of the California Building Industry Association; Board member of the Stanislaus County Affordable housing Coalition; and Chair of the California Executive Officers Council.
His prior HBA experience was in Harrisburg, Pa. Taczanowsky holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture (Doylestown, Pa.) SAHBA, with about 650 member companies, is about twice the size of his local Association.
