Welcome to the SAHBA Home Show: Oct. 9-11
The SAHBA Home Show Staff is ready for another great Show, October 9-11 at the TCC! Our event is Southern Arizona’s original and largest consumer show for home-related products and services. It is outstandingly managed by Lizzette Felix with the invaluable assistance of volunteer Chairman Marty Mincer, Southern Arizona Glassworks.
Here’s a brief overview of the line-up:
Humane Society Adopt-a-Thon sponsored by PetCo
Don’t miss the Humane Society’s version of “Animal House” at the TCC’s West entrance area. Dogs and cats will be up for adoption and the Humane Society will have a litter of pet-related seminars.
Charity Chili Cook-off by Tanque Verde Lions Club in KHIT Kantina
The K-HIT Kantina hosts one of the Show’s hottest and biggest attractions that features Lions Club Chapters from across Arizona in the Charity Chili Cook-off. Organized by the Tanque Verde Lions Club, attendees can sample all the chili recipes for one low $3 “Taste Ticket.”
All funds go to charity: Tucson Community Food Bank, Lions Camp Tatiyee, and the Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation.
On Saturday only, the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) joins the fun. On Sunday only, local restaurants will turn up the heat with samples of their most popular recipes.
Mincer (right) will log his twenty-fifth consecutive Show as Chairman.
Save $2: Food Bank Donations
Attendees who bring donations of non-perishable food items receive $2 off the price of one Adult admission. (Limit: one $2 discount per person, regardless of how extremely generous the donation). All donations go to the Community Food Bank.
Tucson Botanical Gardens Seminars
TBG will present some of their most popular classes at the Show. Daily seminars (Arena Stage 2) include Gardening for the Newcomer, Successful Plans for Tucson Gardens, and Rainwater Harvesting.

Attendees get a sneak preview of this creative idea that features dozens of local businesses in a 4,000-square-foot exhibit. With the Grand Opening on October 16 of the Park Place store, shoppers can shop for all their home improvement ideas, suppliers, and contractors and home service professionals at TheHomeEconomicsStore.com.
Annie Margarita returns to the Show with a palette full of color, talent and painting expertise.
Stephanie Ashcraft: Savvy Shopper Seminars
Ashcraft, author of the New York Times bestseller, “101 Things to do with Cake Mix,” returns to the Show with a shopping cart full of money-saving cooking and grocery ideas. She appears on the Arena Macaroni Grill Stage 1.
Canvas Bag Decorating by Bookman’s
Join in for a free family activity to decorate Bookman’s reusable canvas tote bags. Saturday from 1 pm to 3 pm on Arena Stage 2.
The Macaroni Grill Cooking Challenge
Macaroni Grill Executive Chef Ed Norton will challenge SAHBA Home Show exhibitors in this live exhibition. Watch entertainers, Cuisine Classique Cooking School students, local radio personalities, and exhibitors have a cook-off. It’s on Arena Stage 1.
Meet the Home Show King
King Arthur of Camelot will roam the Show floor, posing for photos, in full costume. At 3 pm Saturday, a special knighting ceremony will be held.
Bill Shank’s BBQ4U has been one of the Food Court’s most popular vendors for almost 10 years. He’s back… featuring Santa Maria Style Tri-Tip.
Live Entertainment
Take a break and shake it up with: Megan’s Law, a five-piece rock band; 11-year-old Erin Garrett’s fabulous singing; The Sahara Dancers troupe performing their mid-eastern gig; and Hypno Joe, the Hypnotist, sponsored by Old Tucson’s Nightfall.
Security Specialist Keith Duncan
Home security expert Keith Duncan will present, “Three Easy Steps to Improving your Home Security.’ His valuable prevention tips make homes more secure, using both low-tech and high-tech ideas. Lock up his tips on Arena Stage 2.
