Tournament Proceeds presented at July GME

Proceeds from the 2010 Carnival de Golfe Charity Golf tournament were presented to this year’s designated charity, The Hearth Foundation, at the July General Membership Event. The check was presented to Hearth Foundation President Sheila Chonis by the Carnival de Golfe Committee Chair, Brigid Gannon. Other Hearth Foundation volunteers attending were Ronda Arguetta, Enrique Aldana and Shawn Edgar.

This year, the tournament returned to the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort and Spa, but on a new day and month. The tournament moved from a Friday in September to a Saturday in May, specifically the 22nd. The date change was well received and will be continued next year.

2010's 16-member committee, chaired by Brigid Gannon of Gannon Utility Consultants, put together a fun, financially successful tournament in four months! The tournament had 118 players, 54 sponsors and raised over $15,000. At the luncheon, the tournament and raffle prize winners were announced. Raffle prizes included a one-hour flight in a vintage warplane, a Lute Olsen autographed basketball and a five-day, four-night stay in Cancun. For a complete list of the raffles prizes, sponsors and tournament winners visit the Carnival de Golf page on the SAHBA website: www.sahba.org/ carnival_de_golfe/carnival_de_golfe.html.

The 2011 Tournament Committee will be forming soon. If you want to help plan this fun SAHBA event, contact Valerie Wiklund at 795-5114 or valerie@sahba.org.
