It may seem like everyone’s embracing green building, but many builders and buyers are still waiting for a push. States looking for ways to encourage more sustainable development can find a great example in Delaware, where the state Home Builders Association worked with the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to establish “Delaware Green for Green,” a program that offers cash incentives to home buyers for building homes certified by the NAHB Research Center to the ANSI-approved National Green Building Standard.
How did they do it? It took a lot of hard work and member participation—but it’s nothing that you can’t do in your state! You’ll hear from the HBA of Delaware members and staff who made the program happen and learn how to get the process started in your state.
